Dr. Ben is the founder and Dean, International Business School (founded in Nov 2018) and Academy of Internet Finance (founded in April 2015)– China's leading interdisciplinary fintech research institute, both of which are based at Zhejiang University - one of the most prestigious universities in China and the world. He is also founder and Director of International Monetary Institute (founded in 2009), Renmin University of China in Beijing. Before his academic career since 2014, Dr. Ben spent 20 years with ABN AMRO (1994-2005), HSBC (2005-2010) and lastly JP Morgan Chase Bank (2010-2014) as China CEO and a member of Global Leadership Team of its Corporate Bank unit.

Dr. Ben is a well-trusted advisor to both the government and private sector across the globe. Appointed by the Zhejiang Provincial Governor in 2014, he was and continues to be the youngest Counselor (to government authorities) in China. He has also been appointed by Guangdong Provincial Government as a member of its Advisory Board for Financial Affairs. He currently serves as a board member of leading companies including CICC and supervisor of China Construction Bank.

Entrusted by the government and industry, Dr. Ben founded and serves as Joint Chairmen of Zhejiang Association of Internet Finance - the industry body in this global fintech hub (the other two Joint Chairmen are Eric Jing, Chairman & CEO of Ant Financial Group and Shen Renkang, Chairman of China Zheshang Bank). One of the most active Fintech figures, Dr. Ben is a well-sought-after speaker, both in China and abroad.

A Chinese national, Dr. Ben was born in his native country in 1966. He obtained his bachelor’s degree in engineering from Tsinghua University in 1987, Master of Management from Renmin University of China and Ph.D. in Economics from Purdue University, USA. He resides in Shanghai with his wife and two daughters.

Haidong Qu, Vice Dean of ZIBS. He joined Hangzhou University (now Zhejiang University) in 1993 and he has rich practical experiences in higher education administration and academic management. He worked in the Graduate School of Zhejiang University for 13 years where he was appointed as the Office Chief of Postgraduate Study and promoted to Associate Professor (Higher Education Management) in 2003. In 2009 he was appointed as the Office Director for the Faculty of Arts and Humanities. In 2014 he served as the Acting Director for the newly established Institute of China Studies (ICS) and led the Master of China Studies to become the largest and the most influential international students' education program in Zhejiang University. Then in 2017, Haidong Qu was appointed as the Vice Dean of the College of Liberal Arts and Sciences at international campus and serves as the Director for the Office of International Student Affairs.

He holds a Bachelor's degree in history, a Master's degree in Management and he obtained the Certificate of MBA and Doctoral Study in Educational Management. Haidong Qu's professional field is Higher Education Management and Innovation. In 2006 he was appointed as a visiting scholar to Valparaiso University in the United States of America. He has published more than 20 papers in the field of postgraduate education and won the National Teaching Achievement Award and three Provincial Teaching Achievement Awards.

Joshua Kobb, Vice Dean of ZIBS

Joshua Kobb is Vice Dean at the Zhejiang International Business School, based in Haining, Zhejiang Province, PRC, where he is focused on developing the global strategy and implementing strategic initiatives for the business school. He is driven by his passion for the globalization of higher education, his dedication to supporting growth, and his mission to create a lasting impact on the people and organizations he serves. Joshua believes that management education is undergoing a fundamental shift in how it serves the market, and that leading research institutions in China have a clear and powerful voice in laying the road map for the future of the industry.

Prior to joining ZIBS, Joshua served as Chief Operating Officer for the Core Leadership Institute in Boston, USA, focused on delivering transformational leadership development programs. Throughout his career he has developed and implemented management, talent, and development programs at INSEAD, HEC Paris, Harvard Business Publishing, and Baruch College at the City University of New York. He brings a wide range of business experience, global exposure and cultural awareness to his practice of leadership, and has worked with organizations designing and delivering executive education, leadership and cross-cultural development programs.

Joshua holds an MA in International Policy Studies from the Monterey Institute at Middlebury College and a BA in Psychology from Rutgers University. He has lived in the UK, Ireland, France, Qatar, and Saudi Arabia and recently moved to China with his wife Tatjana. An avid long-distance runner, he completed the New York City Marathon in 2016 in support of UNICEF.
