South African delegation visits ZIBS and explores new opportunities for cooperation
On March 25, China-Africa FinTech Forum: Experience from China and Opportunities for Africa, supported by Zhejiang University International Business School (ZIBS), was held in Hangzhou.
During the Forum, Professionals from Human Sciences Research Council (HSRC), Centre for Financial Regulation and Inclusion (Cenfri) and FinMark Trust, Development Finance Organization (Uganda), some other financial institutions and organizations shared the status quo, characteristics and outlook of FinTech, digital payment, and rural finance in Africa. Dr. Jaya Josie, Head of the HSRC BRICS Research Center, chaired the Q&A session.
Professor Ben Shenglin, Dean of ZIBS delivered an address at the Forum. He pointed out that the Forum aimed to strengthen the exchanges and cooperation between China and Africa in FinTech, and support Zhejiang in constructing an emerging financial center and Hangzhou in building an international FinTech center.
On March 26, the Forum participants from South Africa visited ZIBS on the International Campus (Haining) of Zhejiang University. ZIBS Vice Dean Qu Haidong and International Vice Dean Joshua Kobb extended a warm welcome to the delegation.
During the meeting, Joshua Kobb briefed the audience on ZIBS’s strategy, positioning, teaching & research, and programs, in particular the progress in executive education and iMBA program, as well as the vision for future. The delegation made a presentation on the economy, finance and development of business education in South Africa. The two sides explored opportunities for more exchanges in the context of new economy.
