Zhejiang University International Business School (ZIBS) announces the nomination of Joshua Kobb as Vice Dean

As Vice Dean, Joshua is focused on developing the global strategy and implementing strategic initiatives for the business school. He is driven by his passion for the globalization of higher education, his dedication to supporting growth, and his mission to create a lasting impact on the people and organizations he serves. He believes that management education is undergoing a fundamental shift in how it serves the market, and that leading research institutions in China have a clear and powerful voice in laying the road map for the future of the industry. Vice Dean Kobb believes that “ZIBS has a unique opportunity to craft a groundbreaking approach to management education. A new venture, born from a legacy institution, it can define an innovative response to the challenges of the 21st Century workforce.”


Throughout his career he has developed and implemented management, talent, and development programs at institutions including INSEAD, HEC Paris, Harvard Business Publishing, and Baruch College at the City University of New York. The global nature of this work has allowed him to develop meaningful working relationships with government, corporate, and academic partners in Europe, the Americas, the Middle East, and China. He brings a wide range of business experience, global exposure and cultural awareness to his practice of leadership. Vice Dean Kobb has worked with leading organizations around the world, both private and public, designing and delivering executive education, leadership and cross-cultural development programs.


Vice Dean Kobb holds an MA in International Policy Studies from the Monterey Institute at Middlebury College and a BA in Psychology from Rutgers University. He has lived in the UK, Ireland, France, Qatar, and Saudi Arabia and is accompanied by his wife, Dr. Tatjana Kobb. An avid long-distance runner, he completed the New York City Marathon in 2016 in support of UNICEF.


According to Dean Ben Shenglin, “ZIBS has an ambitious vision to become a leading player in global management education. It strives to develop the skills, vision and capabilities of learners to be effective in today’s increasingly complex business environment. Its teaching approach is multi-disciplinary, blending a chinese essence with a global perspective, while leveraging thought leadership in new growth areas such as Fintech. The portfolio of programs will include both degree and non-degree, appealing to graduate students and executive learners alike, with programs delivered globally.”
