China Banking Research Center Successfully Launched

 

On June 9, the unveiling ceremony of the China Banking Research Center (CBRC) at ZIBS was successfully held, accompanied by the CBRC Banking Development Forum.

BEN Shenglin, Dean of ZIBS, and HUANG Daye, Honorary Director of the Center for the Study of Banking & Finance of Taiwan University, gave speeches as co-directors of the China Banking Research Center (CBRC). They spoke about the center's origins, purpose, research foundation, and accomplishments. They also expressed their commitment to actively leveraging the center's think tank role in cultivating high-caliber financial talents and conducting research on the development of China's banking industry.

LIN Yifu, Honorary Dean of the National School of Development at Peking University, Franklin Allen, Vice Dean of Imperial College Business School, and Anthony Saunders, John M. Schiff Professor of Finance at NYU Stern School of Business, also sent their congratulations online.
 

      
 

During the conference, WU Xiaoqiu, former Vice President of Renmin University of China, delivered a keynote speech on "Structural Reform and Dual-peak Model of China's Financial System." He shared his decades-long experience in financial research and predicted that the future of China's financial system would be a "dual-peak model," where financial institutions or commercial banks and capital markets form the dual peaks of the system.

At the roundtable forum on banking development, Professor ZHANG Chun from Shanghai Jiao Tong University's Shanghai Advanced Institute of Finance, BEN Shenglin, Dean of ZIBS, ZHENG Zhibin, Senior Partner of Dentons China, and Professor YANG Shenggang from Business School of Hunan University discussed the sustainable development and competitiveness enhancement of the banking industry. They explored topics such as digital technology, infrastructure, development environment, and banking industry transformation. The forum was moderated by Professor HUANG Daye.

On the morning of June 10, experts and scholars from various universities, including Renmin University of China, Fudan University, Zhongnan University of Economics and Law, University of International Business and Economics, and Zhejiang University, conducted discussions on topics such as "Banking Risks and Disposal, Banking Digital Transformation and Internationalization Index, and Banking Competitiveness Evaluation and International Regulation."
