ZIBS Delegation Visits Brazil

 

From June 19 to June 23, ZIBS delegation led by Prof. BEN Shenglin, Dean of ZIBS, was invited to visit the universities, enterprises, governments, and social institutions in four important cities in Brazil - Sao Paulo, Brasilia, Belo Horizonte, and Florianopolis, to carry out university cooperation, dialogue with enterprises and institutions, and actively develop cooperation opportunities.

On the morning of June 19, a Brazil China Innovation Seminar was held in Sao Paulo. ZIBS, the Brazil-China Sociocultural Institute (IBRAChina), and IBRAwork held important discussions on strengthening academic connections and cooperation between China and Brazil and successfully reached future cooperation intentions in areas such as education, institutions, law, and business.

BEN Shenglin delivered a Speech on New Trends in Global Innovation Development at this conference, and Ingrid Barth, President of Abstartups, also delivered a wonderful speech on Brazil's Innovation System. After the lecture, ZIBS also had in-depth discussions with the Center for the Study of Economic and Social Law (CEDES) and LIDE-China and successfully reached future cooperation intentions.
 

   
 

   

 

In the end, BEN Shenglin visited the ZIBS Latin America Center's office located on Sao Paulo Avenue to further understand the various local activities of the ZIBS Latin America Center.

On the afternoon of June 19, ZIBS delegation went to the Sao Paulo City Council to meet the councilor Mrs. Edir Sales. Both emphasized the importance of Brazil-China relations and the desire to deepen cooperation in the academic, business, and investment areas. BEN Shenglin, LianLian International CEO ZHU Xiaosong, and Executive Director of the ZIBS Latin America Center Rodrigo Moura gave an interview to TV Câmara where they explained the delegation's proposal, the cooperation possibilities, and invited Edir Sales and a delegation of authorities from the City of Sao Paulo to visit China and the International Campus, Zhejiang University.
 

   

 

After the interview, the ZIBS delegation went to The Teaching and Research Institute (Insper) to meet with Dean Irineu Gianesi and his team. ZIBS and Insper have clarified the future cooperation intentions.

On the morning of June 20, ZIBS delegation, the President of IBRAChina Thomas Law and the Secretariat of the Brazil-China Joint Parliamentary Front and BRICS Joint Parliamentary Front (Brazil, Russia, India, China and South Africa), Sóstenes Marchezine talked about the importance of building the relationship with the ecosystem of Brazilian universities, governments and civil society that ZIBS is doing on this trip. Then, ZIBS delegation visited the Historical Museum of the Brazilian Bar Association (OAB).

Afterwards, an International Seminar on Innovation, Fintech, Green economy, and Carbon Credit was held at the headquarters of the Federal Council of the Brazilian Bar Association (OAB). The association's outstanding lawyer representatives and numerous authoritative figures attended the meeting.

In the opening speech, Thomas Law thanked BEN Shenglin and emphasized that this was an important moment to promote the partnerships between Brazil and China. He added that the climate change agenda is something much discussed at the UN, and the International Symposium on this issue is very timely. BEN Shenglin recognized that building a relationship with Brazil is essential for the internationalization of ZIBS. He also gave a talk on Global Trends and Chinese Innovations.

 

   
 

  After the meeting,  BEN Shenglin met with Beto Simonetti, President of OAB, and reached an intention for cooperation between ZIBS and OAB.

 

On the afternoon of June 20, the Pearl Jubilee of Brazil-China Cooperation (1993-2023) was held in the Great Hall of the House of Representatives in Brasilia. ZIBS attended together with multiple parliamentary fronts, groups, and institutions, public and private entities, and Brazilian universities. The event was broadcast live on three Brazilian television channels simultaneously. Chinese Ambassador to Brazil ZHU Qingqiao was invited to attend the event.

 

   

 

   

 

 All the main authorities made brief speeches about the 30 years of parliamentary relations between China and Brazil, the achievements and cooperation that were achieved in these years, and future prospects. In front of a large audience and group of authorities, BEN Shenglin expressed appreciation for the admirable celebration and warm welcome he and the entire Chinese delegation received. This celebration has played a positive role in further strengthening relations between China and Brazil.

On the morning of June 21, ZIBS delegation went to Funda ção Dom Cabral, the leading business school in Latin America, and met with Dean Antonio Batista, Vice Dean Paula Sim'es, Viviane Barreto, etc,. Both sides are willing to cooperate in areas such as student exchange, joint research, executive education Program and provide internship opportunities for students from both regions. BEN Shenglin introduced ZIBS and spoke about the importance of the internationalization of schools and the role of the ZIBS Latin America Center in building relationships with universities, companies, and governments in Brazil.

 

    


 On the afternoon of June 21, the ZIBS delegation went to the Catholic higher education institution PUC Minas and met with Rector Luís Henrique Eloy e Silva and outstanding experts and professors from PUC Minas. BEN Shenglin gave a lecture on Global Trends and Chinese Innovations and answered questions from professors about possible partnerships in the areas of Solar Energy, Startup Exchange, and joint AI Programs. ZIBS and PUC Minas have successfully reached a cooperation intention and hope that future cooperation can bring better development to both sides.

On the morning of June 22, ZIBS delegation visited the Federal University of Santa Catalina (UFSC) in Florinopolis, where the UFSC Rector Irineu Manoel de Souza warmly welcomed the delegation. Both sides have reached a deep level of cooperation intention on international exchanges and research cooperation between students from the two universities.
 

   
 

BEN Shenglin stated that UFSC is a university widely recognized for its quality in the fields of teaching, research, and promotion. The cooperation between ZIBS and UFSC will be a very important action in the internationalization process of ZIBS, bringing opportunities for academic research and exchange. Rodrigo Moura also said that the cooperation with UFSC not only provides better development opportunities for ZIBS in the academic field but also provides a direction for cooperation between the Business ecosystems of both sides.

On the afternoon of June 22, ZIBS delegation visited Sapiens Park, with a focus on the facilities of UFSC's photovoltaic laboratory and the UFSC Innovation, Research, Entrepreneurship, and Technology Center (Impetu Hub) in Sapiens Park. BEN Shenglin is excited about the ongoing project at Sapiens Park and mentioned that there are many possibilities for communication and cooperation between the Zhejiang Association of Fintech (ZAFT) and the Santa Catalina Technology Association (ACATE) with the ongoing project. He also suggests holding a joint network seminar in the future.

 

 

The visit of the ZIBS delegation to Brazil will be a significant milestone in the process of ZIBS internationalization, bringing more potential development opportunities for higher academic research at ZIBS and cooperation between ZIBS and Brazil's Business ecosystem.
